Baseball

After beating the New York Yankees in the fourth game of the series the Detroit Tigers are ready to go for the world series title. The Detroit Tigers haven't seen the world series since six year ago where they got destroyed by the St. Louis Cardinals. The difference they claim between 2006 and now is that the Tigers spent the entire week restingfor the world series, but they found out the hard way that when it comes to the world series resting really means rusting. The Tigers played terrible because of the lack of practice. Instead of doing nothing they should have been practicing like the cardinals had been. The fact of the matter is the team that wants it more is the team that will win. The Cardinals just happened to want to win more that the Tigers. The Coach of the Tigers said that instead of resting there players they are going back to the basics of baseball and practice until everything is perfect. After finding out that the Tigers are going to play the San Francisco Giants in the world series they have to step up their game if they want to walk away with the tital of the 2012 World Series winners. In my opinion i think based on skill and how well each team is i think that the tigers are going to walk away winners, but if i had to choose which team to root for i hop the Giants will win. Not to mention the Tigers beat my favorite team the New York Yankees. That would have been great because the Yankees and the Giants are two of my favorite teams when it comes to baseball.

Interview

After considering everyone in my life that I know there was one person that I can relate to the most. Through my life time I have felt that there was always one person that I knew that I could trust and that was my father. He was the man that I knew that I could trust if there was nobody else that I did in fact trust. He is the man that would drop what he is doing to assist you if you needed any type of help with the task at hand. Learning from him I have developed traits that I will carry on throughout my entire life and when he does die his legacy will live on through me and my kids and the habits that we will all have. My father lived in a different time period where manners where enforced and respect was earned not given.

My father grew up just a few years after World War 2 and a few years before Vietnam which basically means he grew up in that awkward time between the wars known as the baby boom. Yeah, my father was one of those babies who were born because all the soldiers came home from war. His childhood was way different that my childhood was, for one thing kids back than had a ton more freedom than the kids of the present. Adults back than weren't as afraid of the world around them compared to today. Parents of the present are so over protective, I will give you based on some of the stories that I have heard from my father’s childhood are rather ridiculous, the fact that parents did give them a ton of freedom at a really young age stuns me but the parents of today don't really give kids any freedom. The same goes for high school, the technology that the schools have today are amazing compared to no technology when my dad was a kid, and yet the average ability to learn is steadily decreasing. Teenagers of the current day have so much technology that they are becoming lazier and all they want is the easy way in life. The views on life where also different back then, teens weren't taking criticism as serious as they are today, suicide is a more recent thing that has been going on. As the saying goes "suicide is a lifelong solution for a short term problem", which is basically saying killing yourself over a problem you face currently is rather pathetic because the problem you face will eventually go away.

Throughout your life you have to make many decision, some you are glad you made and there are some you wish you had not made. Everyone makes bad decisions some of the decisions my father wish he had not done was going to war. Though it was not his choice to go to war due to him being drafted into the military he still has to have on his conscience that he has killed other men. In your mind you have to get over the fact that you have killed someone, the truth about war is when it comes down to battle it is either he dies or you do. So the thoughts about killing others get pushed aside because you don't want to end up on the ground dead. Another decision my father wishes he had not made was investing his time into a company that he was not make a ton of money off of. Though he is glad he had made a few choices in life like marrying my mom and having a son. Also he was glad he has had a long and healthy life so far.

No matter whom you are you think about your future and how you see yourself in ten years. My dad sees himself lying in a hammock on one of the beaches in Puerto Rico, without a care in the world. My dad would have to retire for that to be a possibility, but my dad doesn't really want to do that because work keeps him busy. In my own opinion I think the link between life and death is work. When you are first born you have a lot of things to learn. Throughout the person’s life they have different skills they learn which takes work to achieve them. Once they stop working and stop trying to learn new things they gradually die. My dad hopes that flying cars have been invented before he dies so he can fly to any place he wants to and won't have to pay for planes. Wouldn't it be nice to have a flying car, can you imagine that. There would be no more traffic because the cars would not all be on one level in the sky. Whether scientists are ever able to figure out a way to make flying cars that will just depend but who ever could figure this scientific breakthrough would become very wealthy. Also if a scientist was able to make some type of teleportation device that could teleport you from one place to another that would be rather cool.

After talking with my dad about his childhood, not just about how kids are overprotected and lazy now days I also learned how easy my life is compared to how difficult his childhood was. My dad grew up during a time where there were a million different brands of each product, there was a single brand of most products and you either liked it or would use it, or you would be forced to suffer or not use it at all. Also his childhood was back when the cars where made not to go as fast as they are made today which just makes life a little longer. Also he had to share his stuff with his brother because he lived in a time where if you had one then why would you need another. Like don't get me wrong my dad’s family wasn't poor it was that families needed less to live on they didn't need everything for them to be happy.

After having sat down with my dad and talking about his life I realize that my life is rather easy in comparison to his. He also said that if he had a chance to do it all over again he would not change a thing. The things you do in your life define you as a person and if you change those actions you are altering yourself as a human being, nobody is perfect.

Top 10

1.) The top ten things that are overrated when it comes to summer would have to be leaving to go to mexico. I have been to mexico a few times and i will tell you it is not what you would expect. It isn't as nice as you would think it would be after all the tourist that go there. When i stayed in mexico i stayed in the nicest parts of mexico but even then you can't stay in the nice parts all the time and you will eventually enter the poor sides. So basically if you want to be depressed by all the poor or get robbed for the twenty dollars that you have in your pocket mexico is the place for you.

2.) Another place that is depressing is Honduras. I went there two years ago and once you leave the towns it is very nice and peaceful but the towns are full of trash because nobody cares about sanitation. Also everyone is so poor there because there isn't any jobs that a lot of the kids are walking around naked. Talk about gross, when i signed up for the trip i didn't think that would be apart of the trip.

3.) Disney world is so overrated because it has more rides in more theme parks but if you like the rides in disneyland then you won't like disney world. Also if you like spending a butt load of money on food, attractions, and on entertainment because you can't always be at the park then you will love disney world.

4.) France is another place that i will not be going any time soon. The looks of france is nice with all the beautiful buildings and statues, but the thing that bugged me was how the french treated tourist. Tourist are giving money to come and experience france but when you treat people bad they won't want to come back. Another thing that bugged me was the amount of graffiti all over the city.they had these wonderful statues that some jerk decided that it would be a good idea to put their own name on the statue and wreck the view of the statue to all people, and the french people don't really care. The most annoying thing about france was the amount of dog poop on the ground. The people of france walk their dogs a lot and when they go to the bathroom on the sidewalk they just leave it.

5.) Also what is overrated is Maui, in my opinion after being to three of the islands i would have to say the big island would have to be my favorite. Maui is a little to hot for my taste and when we went there was always clouds glooming over us up on the mountain and it seemed like it was going to be a bad storm but there never was. Also the waves on Maui weren't as big as they were on the big island. I like to surf and i realize that winter is the best time to go because the waves are bigger but i am not about to skip out on snowboarding for a couple of waves. I will give maui that it was nice that the reef was not very far from the shore but to be honest they weren't very far from the shore on the big island.

6.) Beavers are an overrated team in my opinion. They have beat a couple of teams and they are towards the top part of the top 25 and if they played anyone good they would get beaten. If they played LSU or Alabama they would get destroyed. The beavers are an okay team like don't get me wrong they beat some good teams like stanford with amazed me because i thought that stanford would have steam rolled right over the beavers, but the team that wanted it more won and that was the beavers.

7.) Another overrated thing to do over summer is to go on a road trip. A few years ago i went on a roadtrip with my parents and my sister, let me tell you it was the most boring and tireing two days of my life. we were driving from tualatin to San Francisco so we could look at possible colleges my sister might attend. Those twenty four hours there and back showed me how boaring it must have been back in the day before technology. I literally staired out the window for hours and saw the same exact things over and over, grass, trees, farm ,animal, farm, and another tree. I literally thought that i was going to blow up from anger.  I have never not wanted to be out of a car more than that day.

8.)  Also what is overrated would have to be Pro football. I think that if you play pro football it is more fake and they dont really want to win, they dont have the same drive as college players have. For one thin college football players want to keep their scholarship to keep playing and keep attending the college they are going to. Also they have the desire to make it to pro football, while the pro football players are getting large sums of cash to play a game where they dont care if they win or lose.

9.) Starbucks is also overrated because they make you pay so much to get any type of good coffee. In comparision to Dutch Bros they are so much more expensive and in my opinion i think that the taste of the coffee is better. I also like the taste of their chocolate better than starbucks. I think that our school should have Dutch Bros move in and have them work at the Wolf cafe in the tech wing. The amount of money they would componsate for the summer because there wouldn't be any students at the school.

10.) The last thing that i think that is overrated is the amount of time that students have free. They sould all have something to do to be able to stay productive. The fact that students have three mnths and most of them do absolutely nothing in that time. As long as you stay busy there is nothing wrong with time off. Once you start doing nothing then there is a problem. Dont get me wrong i love summer vacation and relaxing and doing nothing is fine butif you do that every day then that is good.

This is what i learned today- Sept. 24, 2012

Today I read the article "Oregon Moves Past LSU to NO. 2" This was a post that was written by the associated press which states after the win over the Arizona Tigers. The Oregon Ducks won 49-0 and with the giant victory they move from number three forward to number two. Lsu who was playing Auburn won with a small victory 12-10.
The article that I read was about the unrated Washington Huskies that beat the rated number 8 Stanford 17-13. The huskies had a strong comeback after being down 13-3 with only 4:53 minutes left on the clock. The Huskies had a strong play that the running back Bishop Sankey got the ball and ran 61 yards to get a touchdown. Then the Huskies had a nine play drive that put the Huskies in the lead. When the clock ran out the Huskies had beat Stanford in this unexpected upset. The Huskies haven't beaten a top ten team since number 3 USC back in 2009.

Oldest Person I Know

The oldest person that i can remember would have to be my grandpa. He is currently 87 years old, or at least he would be if he was still alive. He died one week after thanksgiving at the age of 85 years old. What i remember about him was that he loved the beach and everything about it. He loved the smell of the salt in the air, walking on the beach, and of for sure the fishing almost everyday. I never really spent much time with him but when i did spend time with him it seemed that he was getting more mean with every visit. Within the last few months of his life he stopped being mean and he treated everyone right. My favorite memory of my grandpa was when i was 7, me and my family went down to the beach to visit my grandpa and grandma. While we where down there my dad, my grandpa, and myself went fishing and that was the moment i knew i was a man because i was invited to the mans fishing trip.
